Paint Nite 3

Went to another Paint Nite last night! Pretty happy with the outcome of this – it will make a nice father’s day gift 🙂

My next challenge post should be up soon. I’ve been having a super busy month but I haven’t forgotten about you.

100 Theme Challenge #14: Smile

Here’s a goofy smile for #14. I used chalk pastels, Nupastels, and watercolor markers.

Feel like I’ve been slacking on this challenge lately but I’ve had a lot going on. Though I guess it’s only been five days since my last one. I do feel kind of special that I’m still getting views, likes, and follows even when I don’t post anything. Definitely appreciate the love – keeps me motivated 🙂

100 Theme Challenge #12: Insanity

2015-05-27 21.39.25

My idea for this was to make a warped brain to represent insanity.

I drew this at work and the kids were asking me if they could keep it. I didn’t want to part with it so I went and made a few copies. Instead of keeping mine they got to color in their own versions of the warped brain. Pretty cool 🙂

100 Theme Challenge #10: Breathe Again

So I was a little hesitant to do this piece because I’ve never really painted people before but I decided to give it a shot. I got the idea because one of my students gave me a rose and I wanted to use the petals in a piece of art. So I thought about breathing and smelling roses and went from there.

I put a grid on a picture of myself then I used Nupastels to sketch out the design on the canvas. I like the Nupastels for sketching on canvas and since I chose colors close to what I wanted, they didn’t show through the paint. The last time I tried to sketch out a painting I used watered down paint, but I guess is wasn’t watered down enough because it ended up showing through.

Here it is with the sketch and the petals laid out:

After that, I was ready to paint and attach the rose petals. I am actually really happy with how this came out.
